MongoDB Cluster to Atlas
Live sync migration with zero downtime
We helped migrate a complex on-prem sharded MongoDB cluster to MongoDB Atlas. This included upgrading versions, configuring mongosync, and executing a seamless cut-over with zero downtime for critical services. Post-migration, we optimized performance and resolved app integration issues.
Hybrid Cloud VPN Build
Secure connectivity from on-prem to GCP
Designed and implemented an OPNsense-based hybrid VPN that securely connected on-prem assets to GCP. Using isolated routing, we avoided core firewall disruptions while enabling dynamic discovery and communication across mission-critical systems.
Email Migration
Google Workspace to Microsoft 365
Successfully migrated over 100 mailboxes including aliases and calendar data. Ensured domain verification, SPF/DKIM/DMARC setup, and secure authentication policies for a smooth switch from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 without service interruption.
CI/CD Integration
Automating legacy deployments
We modernized the customer’s legacy deployment pipeline using GitLab CI and Ansible. This brought faster release cycles, higher deployment reliability, and reduced human error in production environments.
Slack to Microsoft Teams Migration
Streamlined communication shift
Planned and executed a Slack to Microsoft Teams migration for a mid-size team. Mapped all channels, users, and integrations while ensuring minimal disruption, email aliasing, and centralized identity control via Microsoft SSO.
Atlassian Cloud Migrations
Jira & Confluence across clouds
Handled complete migration of Jira and Confluence instances between cloud providers. Ensured all data, workflows, permissions, and user access were fully preserved while optimizing for cost and performance in the target platform.

What are the 7 types of cloud migration?
The seven types, commonly called the 7 Rs, are rehost, replatform, repurchase, refactor, relocate, retain, and retire. Rehost lifts and shifts workloads as they are. Replatform makes light optimisations during the move. Repurchase swaps to SaaS. Refactor rewrites for cloud-native services. Relocate moves hypervisor-level workloads without changes. Retain leaves systems in place. Retire decommissions what is no longer needed.
What are cloud consulting services?
Cloud consulting services cover the advisory and engineering work around cloud adoption: current-state assessment, workload discovery and dependency mapping, target architecture design, migration strategy and wave planning, landing zone and network design, security and compliance controls, cost modelling, and post-migration optimisation. The output is a decision-ready plan plus hands-on delivery support, not just documentation.
What is a cloud migration specialist?
A cloud migration specialist is an engineer or consultant who plans and executes workload moves into, between, or out of cloud platforms. The role covers application and infrastructure discovery, dependency analysis, migration tooling, cutover and rollback planning, data replication, performance validation, and cost control. Most specialists combine platform knowledge with networking, security, and database experience.
What are the 4 R's of cloud migration?
The 4 Rs are a condensed version of the wider framework: rehost, replatform, refactor, and replace. Rehost moves workloads unchanged. Replatform applies targeted changes such as moving to a managed database. Refactor rearchitects the application for cloud-native services. Replace retires the system in favour of a commercial or SaaS alternative. Larger estates usually need the fuller 7 R model.
Is cloud migration easy?
Simple workloads with few dependencies migrate quickly. Complexity comes from undocumented dependencies, legacy licensing, data gravity, latency-sensitive applications, and compliance requirements. Most overruns trace back to weak discovery rather than the migration itself. With proper inventory, dependency mapping, wave sequencing, and tested rollback plans, migration becomes predictable, but it is rarely trivial at enterprise scale.
Which tool is used for cloud migration?
Tool choice depends on target platform and workload type. AWS Application Migration Service, Azure Migrate, and Google Cloud Migration Center handle server and VM migration. Database moves typically use AWS Database Migration Service or Azure Database Migration Service. VMware estates often use HCX for relocation. Storage transfer, dependency mapping, and cost assessment usually require additional tooling alongside these.
What are the types of cloud migration?
Migration types are usually grouped by direction and scope. By direction: on-premises to cloud, cloud to cloud between providers, and cloud to on-premises repatriation. By scope: full data centre exit, partial or hybrid migration, and workload-specific moves. By asset: application, database, storage, virtual machine, and container migration. Each combination changes the tooling and cutover approach.
Do you support specific cloud providers?
Start with a full asset inventory and dependency map so nothing is discovered mid-cutover. Baseline current performance and cost for comparison. Define the target landing zone, network design, identity model, and security controls before moving anything. Group workloads into waves by risk and dependency. Agree success criteria, cutover windows, and rollback procedures, then pilot with a low-risk workload first.
How to prepare for cloud migration?
Start with a full asset inventory and dependency map so nothing is discovered mid-cutover. Baseline current performance and cost for comparison. Agree success criteria, cutover windows, and rollback procedures, then pilot with a low-risk workload first.
What are the stages of migration?
Migration typically runs through five stages. Assess covers discovery, dependency mapping, and business case. Plan defines target architecture, migration strategy per workload, and wave sequencing. Mobilise builds the landing zone, controls, and tooling. Migrate executes replication, cutover, and validation. Optimise follows go-live with right-sizing, cost tuning, performance review, and operational handover.
Is there a long-term commitment?
No. You can use OpsAssist as-needed — no subscription is required unless you want continuous support.
Can you help with infrastructure automation?
Yes — we support Ansible, Puppet, and our own Nubius Lifecycle Manager for automation and compliance.
Is monitoring and alerting included?
We can assist you in setting up monitoring, alerts, and even incident response, depending on your setup.
How will you grant us access?
We adapt to your security standards. Whether you use VPN, Tailscale, Fortinet, ZTNA, or any other secure method — we’ll connect the way you prefer, always prioritizing encrypted, secure, and minimal-access setups.
Your data stays yours.
Before any access is granted, we’ll sign a Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to ensure your company’s systems and information are fully protected. Your trust is critical — and we take it seriously.
